Allahabad High Court
INDRAJEET SINGHversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 4 OTHERS
- Decided
Holding
The Court directed the Managing Director, Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd., to decide on the petitioner's reply within four weeks, thereby disposing of the writ petition.
Summary
The petitioner challenged an assessment notice issued by the Executive Engineer, Electricity Distribution Division‑I, Jalaun, claiming that a reply filed on 30 July 2026 had not been acted upon. The petitioner sought judicial intervention to compel the respondent to decide on the reply. The respondents argued that the Managing Director of Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. would take a decision expeditiously. The Court examined whether the delay violated principles of natural justice and found no substantive legal impediment to a decision. Consequently, the Court directed the Managing Director to decide on the petitioner’s reply within four weeks of receiving the certified copy of the order. The writ petition was thereby disposed of with a directive for prompt administrative action.
