Holding
The petition is dismissed as not pressed.
Summary
The petitioners, Smt. Deepika Verma and Amit Kumar, filed a writ petition seeking mandamus to restrain the State of U.P. and two other respondents from interfering in their married life, raiding their house, and threatening them. The respondents' standing counsel informed the court that the first petitioner was already married, implying no legal basis for the relief sought. Subsequently, the petitioners' own counsel requested that the petition be dismissed as not pressed. The court accepted this submission and dismissed the writ petition on the ground that it was not pressed. All pending applications were disposed of and any interim orders vacated.
Issues considered
- Whether the writ petition seeking mandamus to restrain the respondents from interfering in the petitioners' marital life is maintainable.
