Allahabad High Court

GOPI AND 5 OTHERSversusTHE STATE OF U.P. AND 2 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The petition is dismissed for want of prosecution.

Summary

The petitioners filed a writ petition (Writ‑C No. 57770 of 2013) before the Allahabad High Court. They failed to appear on three scheduled dates (16‑03‑2026, 07‑04‑2026 and the date of hearing). The respondents argued that similar petitions had been dismissed for delay and laches, attaching relevant orders. Observing the petitioners' repeated non‑appearance, the Court inferred a loss of interest in the proceedings. Consequently, the Court dismissed the petition for want of prosecution, citing the petitioners' failure to pursue the case.

                                    Chief Justice's Court
                                                HON'BLE ARUN BHANSALI, CHIEF JUSTICE
                                                HON'BLE ARUN KUMAR, J.

                                    1. In the present petition, none was present for the petitioners on
                                    16.03.2026 and 07.04.2026.

                                    2. Today also, none is present.

                                    3. Learned counsel for the respondents submits that similar nature writ
petitions have been dismised on account of delay and laches, orders
whereof have been annexed with the short counter affidavit.

                                    4. In view of the fact that none is present for last three dates, it appears
that the petitioners have lost interest in the petition.

                                    5. The petition is, therefore, dismissed for want of prosecution.

                                                                        (Arun Kumar,J.) (Arun Bhansali,CJ.)
