Allahabad High Court

MAHAK SINGH AND 7 OTHERSversusSTATE OF U.P. AND ANOTHER

Decided

Holding

The Court held that the petition can be disposed without adjudicating merits, directing petitioners to file detailed representations and the Tehsildar to decide them within a stipulated period.

Summary

The petitioners filed a writ petition seeking a direction to the Tehsildar of Khatauli to decide on their representation dated 27-12-2025 for issuance of English versions of their Scheduled Caste certificates, which had already been issued in Hindi. The State's standing counsel argued that the petition should not be kept pending and that the Tehsildar should be directed to consider the grievance. The Court, without examining the merits, disposed of the petition and ordered each petitioner to file a detailed separate representation, along with a certified copy of the order, within one month. It further directed the Tehsildar to consider and decide the representation within one month of receipt. The order thus provides procedural directions but does not rule on the substantive right to an English certificate.
