Allahabad High Court
AKANKSHA SINGHversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 3 OTHERS
- Decided
Holding
The writ petition challenging the FIR was dismissed as the filing of a charge-sheet made the challenge untenable.
Summary
The petitioner, Akanksha Singh, filed a criminal miscellaneous writ petition challenging the registration of an FIR. The State, represented by the learned Additional Government Advocate, submitted that a charge-sheet had already been filed, as per a report dated 11 May 2026 from the Legal Cell of the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police. The Court examined the report and noted that the charge-sheet's filing rendered the challenge to the FIR moot. Consequently, the Court held that the writ petition could not be entertained and ordered its dismissal. The petitioners were directed to seek any other remedy available under law.
