Allahabad High Court

SATENDRA SINGHversusSTATE OF UTTAR PRADESH AND 8 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The Court dismissed the petition, finding no basis to issue a mandamus directing the Board of Revenue to decide the revision expeditiously.

Summary

Petitioner Satendra Singh filed a writ petition seeking a mandamus directing the Board of Revenue, U.P. Circuit Court Meerut to decide Revision No. 358 of 2025 (Amaruddin & others v. Satendra Singh & others) under Section 210 of the U.P. Revenue Code, 2006, within a fixed period. The petition highlighted that the revision was filed on 15‑12‑2025 and had been repeatedly adjourned due to advocates’ strike and joint requests of counsel. The High Court examined whether it could issue a direction for expeditious disposal of the pending revision. Noting the procedural delays were largely due to strikes and mutual adjournments, the Court held that it was not appropriate to intervene with a mandamus. Consequently, the petition was dismissed without any order directing the Board of Revenue.

Issues considered

  • Whether the High Court can issue a writ of mandamus directing the Board of Revenue to decide a pending revision petition expeditiously under Section 210 of the U.P. Revenue Code, 2006.
