The court ordered respondent No.2 to decide the pending proceedings within three months, without expressing any opinion on the merits.
Summary
The petitioner, Krishnawati Devi, filed a writ petition seeking an order directing the respondent No.2 to decide pending proceedings under Section 67-A of the U.P. Revenue Code, 2006, which have been pending since 2020 despite a Lekhpal report filed in 2022. The petitioner argued that the delay was causing hardship and requested an expeditious decision. The court, after hearing counsel, noted that no further purpose would be served by keeping the petition pending. Without expressing any view on the merits of the underlying revenue matter, the court disposed of the petition and directed respondent No.2 to decide the proceedings within three months of the certified copy of the order, ensuring service and hearing, and to avoid unnecessary adjournments. The order was signed by Justice Manish Kumar Nigam on May 5, 2026.
