Allahabad High Court

AJAY KUMAR @ AJAY KUMAR GUPTAversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 18 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The Court directed the Sub‑Divisional Officer to conclude the pending proceedings expeditiously.

Summary

The petitioner filed a writ petition seeking a mandamus directing the Sub‑Divisional Officer, Rudrapur, to decide a revenue case (Case No.RST/11072/2025) that had been pending since January 2021 and, after a remand, since March 2025. The petition invoked Section 24 of the U.P. Revenue Code, 2006, arguing that the delay violated the right to speedy justice. The Court noted that the petition sought expeditious disposal and that keeping the petition pending would serve no useful purpose. Consequently, the Court disposed of the writ petition, directing the Sub‑Divisional Officer to conclude the pending proceedings expeditiously while following due legal procedure. The order was signed on 6 May 2026 by Justice Vivek Saran.
