Allahabad High Court

PURAN SINGHversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 3 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The Court disposed of the petition, directing respondent No.2 to consider the grievance and decide it within six weeks.

Summary

Petitioner Puran Singh filed a writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution seeking a mandamus directing the authorities to decide his application dated 08.05.2026, which sought protection against police interference in cutting popular and eucalyptus trees on his land in Muzaffarnagar. The petition alleged that his representation to respondent No.2 was pending. The learned Standing Counsel expressed no objection to disposing of the petition with a direction to the respondent to consider the grievance. The Court, after hearing counsel, disposed of the petition, directing respondent No.2 to examine the grievance and pass an appropriate order within six weeks of receiving the certified copy of the order. No substantive merits of the grievance were adjudicated; the relief was limited to a procedural direction.
