Allahabad High Court

AMARJEETversusSTATE OF U.P. AND 3 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The writ petition is dismissed; the petitioner must file a detailed reply to the notice within four weeks.

Summary

The petitioner, Amarjeet, filed a writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution seeking disposal of a pending reply dated 08.08.2026 to a notice issued on 05.08.2026. The petitioner had also applied for the supply of certain documents to enable an effective reply. The Court observed that the petitioner's request for documents was improper and that the petitioner remains legally bound to file a proper reply even without the documents. Accordingly, the Court directed the petitioner to submit a detailed reply to the notice within four weeks. Upon receipt of that reply, Respondent No.4 is to take a final decision on the notice within a further month. The writ petition was therefore disposed of with the said directions.

Issues considered

  • Whether the petitioner can be excused from filing a reply to the notice on the ground of non‑supply of documents
