ABHIJEET SRIVASTAVAversusTHE BAR COUNCIL OF UTTAR PRADESH AND 2 OTHERS

Decided

Holding

The Court ordered the Bar Council of India to decide the petitioner's complaint within 60 days and disposed of the writ petition.

Summary

The petitioner, Abhijeet Srivastava, filed a writ petition after lodging a complaint against a practicing advocate with the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh, which was subsequently transferred to the Bar Council of India. The petitioner objected to the advocate's response and sought the Bar Council of India’s prompt adjudication of the complaint. The High Court, after noting the pendency of the matter before the Bar Council of India, directed the Council to decide the complaint within 60 days of the order. No substantive merits of the complaint were examined by the Court. Consequently, the petition was disposed of with the direction for expeditious disposal by the Bar Council of India.
